Day 2 of M-B Fashion Week Lj
The 2nd day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Ljubljana had a lot on the menu! It was friday evening and we were in for 8 fashion shows, debate Does design sell? and an after party! The amount of guests doubled since the opening night but no one seemed bothered, after all we were in a so called “elite” crowd. So while moving through, everyone was quite comfortable touching models, influencers, actors, designers and yuppies. A perfect make-believe world.
A sudden reality check hit me as the shows started. It was not magic and full of “joie de vivre”. But rather contracted and duo-chromatic. But as I watched models walking down the runway I felt there was space for romance in these collections. Loved the blue in IVANMAN’s collection, textured knit and our favourite, trench with added volume to the sleeves and side slits.

I have to say Nataša Peršuh has that distinct style of hers so I immediately know it’s her collection. More or less black&white palette, asymmetrical and oversized shirts, simple, clean, with thought. Ipso facto you can not go wrong by wearing her clothes. And one day I’m getting myself one of those shirts, for sure!
During the break we stepped out for some fresh air. Smoking area surrounded with fences as we were surrounded with debates about collections we just saw. There wasn’t much drama, we all had a similar point of view on which items are gonna be “best sellers” and which are not gonna receive any love. As the event organizator started rolling their commercial block people flooded in and the space was getting potent with anticipation. And oh boy was it fulfilling! Senior generation of designers coming through, make some noise!

Their knits have always had a special place in every woman’s heart. We can spot their dress on a woman a mile away and we instantly become Snow White’s evil and jealous stepmother obsessed with glittery knits. Blissful aesthetic so pleasing to the eye can be quite poisonous.

Jelena Leskovar gave us funky, cool, young and wild girls! My dear friend Mojca, who was sitting beside me started squeaking and clapping! Which meant she loved it, well we both did and off course we solemnly sworn to losse weight and buy those black, super plastic & super tight pants!
We were all feeling upbeat when they came out. Strong, tough, real and in-your-face. With I’ll-give-you-a-fashion-show-to-remember attitude. It was the anarchy of Akultura! I still get goosebumbs when I think about that show. Oversized and geometrical looking coats and jackets ruled the runway and so did the ladies wearing them.
